Is Read AI HIPAA compliant?

Yes

Read AI, Inc. · Meetings & notetakers

Yes. Read AI, Inc. will sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) for Read AI, usually on an enterprise plan, which is the baseline requirement for handling PHI.

What we checked

This assessment separates the consumer product from any business plan. It uses the vendor documents linked below; an unverified item is not a pass.

Business Associate Agreement
Confirmed
Read AI, Inc. publishes a BAA option. Confirm the exact plan and service are covered before sending PHI.
Enterprise route
Enterprise
For regulated use, validate the BAA, configured service and users under the Enterprise contract.
Default data training
Opt-out required
Read AI is opt-out of training by default: meeting content is not used to improve the product unless a user explicitly opts in via a checkbox in settings.
Business-tier training
No by default
Default is opt-out across tiers; HIPAA-locked workspaces make sharing data for training permanently impossible, and training only occurs on explicit user opt-in.
Practical risk: The biggest gotcha is the auto-join bot behaviour. Read can be invited by any participant and join meetings automatically, so sensitive conversations may be silently recorded or transcribed unless hosts and participants actively remove it.

How to make a decision

Check the precise account tier, written contract and intended data before approving Read AI. A security certification, DPA or setting can apply to only part of a vendor's service. Keep the source links with your supplier review and revisit them when the vendor changes its terms.
